Brunch on the Trabocco

Brunch on the Trabocco

When spring and summertime arrive, I adore to be amazed by the charm of the Trabocchi while walking along the coast to admire these wonderful fishing machines, as if they were “sentinels of the sea”. Gabriele D’Annunzio called them “colossal spiders”! Because of the rectangular fishing net linked to two massive antennas stretching over the seawater to be immersed, at more or less regular intervals, in the water and immediately afterwrads withdrawn…to catch delicate and tasty fish.

The Trabocco today is mainly a place of conviviality, where I like going with Italian and American friends to contemplate the low tides, the moons, the sea and its life and have a traditional lunch over a good glass of wine. How not to fall in love with the sunsets and the “wild atmosphere” that the Trabocco offers us in its simplicity and beauty. A dinner or a lunch becomes a ritual and memories last forever.
