“From the humble Trabucchi of Molise to the Theatrical ones in Peschici. The landscape is different: braver and more exposed; perfect to reconnect with your own wildnesss”. Laura
I invite you to spend a day with our Peschici neighbors, where the landscape shifts to white limestone cliffs and deep green Aleppo pines. Once in Peschici, you will have a private historical center walk, the best way to decode the “vertical labyrinth” of the town. You will visit the oldest Medieval part of the village with its Recinto Baronale, The Bizantine-Norman Castle perched on the highest cliff (the fortress was built around year 1000), the Church of Sant’Elia Profeta, with its massive marble blocks from local quarries and Baroque paintings. The tour focuses on artisan encounters with stops at small workshops, where locals still produce terracotta…and you will discover how “Paposcia” is prepared as well as hidden “belvedere” and architectural secrets.
But the true heart of this experience lies on the water. The Trabucchi, prehistoric wooden fishing machines that look like giant coastal spiders: the silent guardians of the Adriatic sea. I have selected the most authentic of these “wooden giants” for your lunch, suspended between the sky and the Adriatic, watching the traditional fishing nets dip into the turquoise water, while you enjoy a menu dictated by the morning’s catch.
Experience Highlights
White Wanderings – A private guided stroll to visit the whitewashed village of Peschici perched on a high limestone cliff in the Gargano region of Puglia. The guide will go through the “Recinto Baronale” of Peschici, visiting hidden artisan shops and panoramic terraces.
The Living Machine – A private demonstration of how a Trabucco works, understanding the ancient engineering that still feeds the coast today.
Lunch Above the Waves – A slow-food seafood – “cuisine of the sun” lunch – served on the wooden platform of the Trabucco, accompanied by crisp local white wines. You will smell not only the sea, but also the resin of the Aleppo pines that cling to the cliffs.
Coastal Contrast – enjoy the scenic drive from Molise to Puglia, noticing the beautiful transition of the Adriatic landscape.
What Our Guests Say
“Dining on the wood of the Trabocco with the salt air in our hair was the highlight of our entire stay in Termoli, and crossing the border was like being introduced to Laura’s extended family”
Perfect for Food Lovers and Travelers – Because you take home an experience of Food, Landscape, Artisans and People. Choosing a Laura Selection experience, rather than going alone, is the difference between being a “tourist” and being an “honored guest” at the coast.
