The Zampogna (or bagpipe!) is not a mysterious musical instrument… in reality it is very similar to a conramusa, the very ones used in Scotland and in many other parts of the world. It is a bag aerophane, typical of southern Italy. There are different types and the sound recalls ancestral emotions. Molise, the region that doesn’t exist! ah ah, it is also the kingdom of the bagpipe and, in the village of Scapoli, located at the foot of the Mainarde, the Bagpipe Festival takes place every year, which hosts musicians who come from all over the world. Scots can’t miss the festival! There is also a Permanent Exhibition of Italian and foreign bagpipes for the protection and valorisation of this ancient instrument and to encourage tourism. I’m waiting for you to listen to the music of “Zampogne”.
