Teresa Di Tomaso – Ceramics by Molise

The Craft of Ceramics is not properly linked to the city of Termoli, but Termoli is certainly a showcase for all products manufactured in Molise. A fine example of this ancient and noble tradition is the work of Teresa Di Tomaso who, with his 24 years of experience in the field of ceramics, in collaboration with today’s young son Paul to whom he passed on his professionalism, carries out his activities in Baranello, charming small village in the province of Campobasso, where he has his workshop.

Among the representative objects typical of the place created by the skilled hands of Teresa,  stands out a special bowl, still in use today, to preserve the famous “Scattone”, a dish of pasta and wine once consumed by the farmers when back home from work, especially during winter.

Another typical object is the “Molisanella” in the shapes of bell or sugar bowl. The Molisanella represents the peasant Molise, she holds different fruits and symbolizes the region’s beauty. Dressed in blue reflects the beautiful of the sea of Termoli. Dressed in yellow or green, she represents the colors of the hills and mountains of Molise.

Ceramics of Teresa  Di Tomaso can be admired and purchased in the “Old Village – Borgo Vecchio” of Termoli, at “Scrigno della Ceramica”, in via Duomo n. 54.
