St Timothy – Cathedral of Termoli

St Timothy – Cathedral of Termoli

“In the name of Christ, Amen. In the year of the Lord 1239Here lies the body of St. Timothy, a disciple of St. Paul, the Apostle.

Hidden by the venerable Stephen Bishop of Termoli with the Chapter .

In the Cathedral, lies the  forgetful bare, grandiose relics. Along with San Basso, Patron.

Body. Loot and trophy of wars, taken from Constantinople by Crusaders. Saved.

Wealth, relic. Sign of devotion and faith for which they fought.

Movables and immovebles objects, that have forms of the East in the Churches and Cathedrals.
As witnesses of a passage.

Unknown memory. Forgot. Concealed.
In a wooden box the remains are reunited. Traces of a body, hidden, almost forgotten, in a presbytery. Shelter from raids.

Alone. The skull is separated. Placed in a silver reliquary. Simple form and austere.  Of an helmet.

Small fragments, delicate and fragile. Soft.

Scattered, silent, in memory of the city.
