The Cathedral – Termoli

The Cathedral – Termoli

Ancient town, small, humble.

Majestic walls and precious, a big Church.

Capture curious eyes.

Space in evenly spaced in time, unchanged, yet changed.

Byzantine and Muslim, Lombard, Norman dominations, admirable example of tolerance.

Cohesion and sharing.

Admonition, extraordinary.

Solemn footprints, present and strong of wise and skillful hands.

Composite. Hybrid, Romanesque.

Civis Termolitanus, came from Amalfi, Alfano was the artist of the Cathedral, architect, author, father.

Above, the rose window, simple.

Acanthus leaves and human figures in the capitals. Shoots and flowers, fine, soft.

Impressive, majestic, austere. Rigorous in its facing of stone and polychrome facade that caters to East.

Dressed in light of sea that adorns. Wraps.

Cathedral of the sea. Of shadows, of spiritual light and intangible, like prayers. That the wind has accompanied, delivered and scattered as steps on stone.

Cathedral of silence.

Animals in white, in a tight tangle. A deer runs, the tree of life, the Lion, the siren, the fish surround it. Figures of a fantastic image, bizarre dance on the board. Everything is red and white.

Huge, overlook and preserves the bodies of the Saints who were patrons and protectors.

Relics, magnificent ruins. Remains. Objects.

Traces of the East. Signs.

Step by step. Walk on the road. Beyond the sea.

Purity. Grace and politeness.

The sun imitates it with its shadows and it is sovereign, solemn, elegant. Lady.
