Castel San Vincenzo – Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise

In the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise
the protagonist, as in a show of nature,
is Castel San Vincenzo, a small Medieval village  at the foot of Mainarde mountains that
protect the village, between woods and springs.

Here, Laura’s friends visit the ancient Benedictine Abbey,
with its history that is intertwined with the history of the raids, Lombards and their domains.
It is, the Abbey, artistic and eloquent testimony of the power of Lombards.

The crypt, below,
where, almost clandestine, the cycle of frescoes  tell of
oriental compositions, with vivid and vibrant colors,
filling loose and free drawings, fluid, as if liquid,
bright, as in contrast with the shadows and the gloom of the place,
in an atmosphere that seems rarefied

Arrived here …. ,
it is almost impossible not to be caught,
by the “architecture” of the landscape.
The old paths, with donkeys, hares
and the wild boar and even wolves, like a fairy tale of a everlasting time!

The places preserve the delightful and magical atmosphere

an enchanted land, where the mountains, the small shops “make”
crafts typical of ancient tradition of skillful hands, that fathers have handed down to sons.
